Unravelling the jargon
Unravelling the Jargon aims to take governmental policy and strategy and simplify these documents into 'layman terms'.
Pamphlets are produced and workshops held to help the community at large understand the basic components and assist them in making informed choices about their future.
We also develop leaflets looking at landmark events from the past in partnership with people affected by the violence and conflict.

The Leaflets
Our leaflets address contentious issues such as decommissioning, parades and policing. We base each leaflet on our own internal dialogue on the issue. Because our membership is drawn from across the spectrum of cultural, religious and political persuasions, it is both representative of different traditions and frequently painful.
Each leaflet:
- Presents the stated positions of our main traditions.
- Articulates the needs and experience underlying them.
- Encourages critical reflection and questioning.
An Example
If the issue is parades, for example, the reader engages with unionist and loyalist positions, needs and experiences on one page and nationalist and republican positions, needs and experiences on a facing page. They are encouraged to explore those positions, needs and experiences, and in light of them, to reflect and question their own. Ultimately the leaflet is asking the reader to consider ways of resolving the issue in a way that different sides could live with.
